Symptoms of an unparsable PDF

Upload tools return empty sections, garbled text, or 0% parse quality. You cannot highlight individual words in the PDF — only a full-page selection.

Common causes

  • Canva or design tools exported via Print → Save as PDF
  • Phone camera scans saved as PDF
  • Heavy graphics with text baked into images
  • Password-protected or corrupted files

Fixes that work

  • Upload DOCX from Google Docs or Word instead
  • Export using Download → PDF, not Print
  • Rebuild in a structured resume builder and export clean PDF/DOCX
  • If parsing still fails, enter sections manually — do not trust a blank import

FAQ

Will ATS read my Canva resume?
Only if the PDF contains real text. Many Canva exports are image-based and fail both parsers and ATS.
