Recommended section order

For most campus and fresher roles:

  • Contact + links (email, phone, LinkedIn, GitHub if relevant)
  • Summary (2–3 lines targeting the role)
  • Education (often above experience for students)
  • Projects / internships / experience
  • Skills
  • Achievements, certifications, extracurriculars

Projects carry your experience

Without full-time work, projects prove skills. Name the project, stack, your role, and a measurable outcome. Link repos or demos when allowed.

Avoid fresher resume traps

Common mistakes in placement season:

  • Objectives that say nothing (“seeking challenging role”)
  • Listing every school subject; keep skills job-relevant
  • Decorative Canva PDFs with no selectable text
  • Same generic resume sent to every company without keyword tweaks

FAQ

Should freshers use a one-page resume?
Yes for most campus drives — one page with strong projects and skills is enough.
CGPA on resume — yes or no?
Include if 7.5+ or if the employer asks. Otherwise optional once you have internships.
